Follow these steps to troubleshoot volume issues on your iPhone. Please note that after performing each step, please test to see if your iPhone volume control problems is resolved.
- Restart your iPhone by pressing and holding the sleep/wake button.
- Update your iPhone to the latest version of iOS. (How to update your iOS version). This may resolve your issue.
- Reset your iPhone by pressing and hold the sleep/wake button and the Home button together until you see the Apple logo
If the tips above don’t resolve your issue; check to see if you can adjust the volume at Settings > Sounds. If you can, it is likely that you have a hardware problem. You may want to have your iOS device checked at an Apple Store and have them take a look at it, especially If your device is still under warranty. You may also try the followings:
- If you feel like the buttons feel mushy, try to clean by vaccuuming the volume buttons with a regular vacuum nozzle.
- It may be that your buttons are stuck. Try to unstuck them by pressing volume up and down, for several times.
- Perform a DFU restore. (Using DFU Restore to Solve iPhone Problems)
If your volume buttons are still not functioning properly, you may want to use an accessibility feature called Assistive Touch. This will let you control the volume using the touch screen. (How to use your iOS device without the home button)
